The beliefs come from people who have spoken with God and told others. Getting technical, the first "author" of The Bible was Moses. He wrote the books Genesis through Deutronomy. The last "author" of The Bible was John, who wrote revalation. It took a total of about 1500 years to complete the writing of The Bible.
